Why Join OCYM?

As St. James said in James 2:26, “Faith without works is dead”. We all claim to be professing Christians. But how many of us dare to proclaim our faith publicly and lead an active Christian life? There are many opportunities for today's youth to "hear" the word of God, but few opt to act on what they hear. This is where the Orthodox Christian Youth Movement (OCYM), the youth wing of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church can fill a gap in our lives.

As an organization with a history of 76 years, and a threefold slogan of worship, study and service the Orthodox Christian Youth Movement has been instrumental in making our church flourish with a significant presence in almost all the countries of the world. We aim to make young people take ownership of their faith by leading Bible studies, through charitable activities for our less fortunate brethren and by applying Christianity to every area of our lives.

The Dubai unit of OCYM has been involved in all spiritual, cultural and social activities of the church right from its inception in the year 1975. Notable initiatives have included “Venalshibhiram” camps to make our children aware of Kerala culture, blood donation drives, fund raising for earthquake relief in Haiti, bible discussions and quizzes, symposiums and debates. We have had the honour of being chosen as the best OCYM unit in 2008.

Meetings are held every week after the Holy Qurbana on the upper floor of the office complex and all interested youth are encouraged to join OCYM. Let us work together to put our faith in action and be a role model to our younger generation.
